COMMENT FROM THE COACH:  Matthew was selected by his peers to be co-captain in season 2007.  This is an indication of the regard he is held in by his teammates.  He is not a natural speaker but his work ethic and ability to get on with all his teammates have seen him blossom in this role. He is the fittest player in the club and is continuing to develop his ability to read the play which will see him further improve this year, which is great for a player who has played well over 100 A grade games already.

COMMENT FROM THE COACH:  Matthew has starred at junior level in both basketball and football. This is his first year in senior football and his challenge will be to transfer this success into this much tougher arena.  Matthew reads the ball very well and is really clean at ground level for someone of his height. His is a very accurate kick for goal and will be given the opportunity to prove he is capable of performing at A grade level during 2008.

COMMENT FROM THE COACH:  Ashley has shouldered the midfield responsibilities for several seasons. Some selective recruiting is going to take a lot of pressure off of him.  After a disappointing 2007 by his standards I am confident the club will see Ashley back to his hard running best in 2008.  He has also taken his responsibility of captaining the club very seriously. He is well respected by his peers and has the potential to become an excellent captain for this club.
